Arena
Just went to Arena last night (Saturday night). Arena is a nightclub that I have enjoyed going to over the last few years. Although at times not many people go there, I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the guys in charge there.
In Mauritius, there are not many nightclubs that do well. Arena is the only nightclub on the West coast that’s doing well as far as I know. The crowd is mixed, and depending on the day and the DJ, music may be pop or techno.
Another good point for Arena is that it invites foreign DJs over for special nights from time to time. And no need to say that on these nights it’s really jam packed.
Last night, I had beer, whisky and coke (which my friend had unbeknown to me made sure was triple shot whisky), ’submarine’ (tequilla/sambucca shot in glass of beer/Red Bull), and ‘Sudden Death’ (damn mixture of 4 shots, gets me KO very fast). The hot dog and sausages I had in between was not enough to prevent me from getting drunk. :P
For info, Buddha Bar in the NW coast is another popular nightclub here (apparently there are two Buddha Bar but I don’t know the second one), and Banana is another favourite bar up there.

Unfortunately Arena is now closed, but should be back much later this year. You should go to ‘Enfants terrible’ or ‘Ngyone’ in the North (around Grand Bay) for a good crowd. Hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanx for the info on local nightlife. Good stuff to know, especially since the sources in general are quite meager. I am going to Mauritius in January, and I am an enthusiastic nightclubber with no clue where to go.
