Sharing appt - rant about my housemate
I am probably going to move house YET again! One of my friends is telling me to move in with her because she has to move also. I have temporarily given my approval although I am not too happy to have to pack and move yet again… I mean, I have been moving like every 3 months… and I do like the area I am in now. One of my friends in SH just asked me before I went to dinner “aren’t you tired of continuously moving here and there?” Yes, I am so damned tired of this. I want to settle down properly.
However, I am quite annoyed with my current housemate. I have been here for two months, and I still havent’ got my TV or internet so far. Nor the copy of landlord’s ID and Hukou to get myself registered with the PSB (the Public Security Bureau - we’re supposed to register 24hrs after moving in, although they’re not very strict about that). Since I said from the beginning that these two are necessary, I feel that my needs are not her priority. Even the PSB, I asked her to drop there before going to work and ask what should be done (it would take max 5min to get there from our appt), but she says she has to go to work at 8.30 latest. PSB opens at 8.30. But the days when she goes to office late for whatever reason, she doesn’t try to go there either >:)
Also, if you’re going to be having sex with your boyfriend, and you’re kinda loud, for God’s sake, put some music or the TV on. I have odd sleeping hours, and I am not interested in hearing you groaning in the middle of the night. After all, the sole TV set is in your room.
The pots and dishes left in the basin for a day or two, the floor in the dining room and kitchen not swept, I can live with. I am not a very tidy person myself, so it doesn’t bother me much. Me having to take the trash 3 times out of 4, it’s ok. I am going out anyway, and the trash can is just outside the main entrance. You locking your room while you don’t give me the key to lock mine, I don’t care. You are a girl, it’s normal that you want to keep it lock. And you knock before coming in mine, so no problem.

I talked to her about the tv/internet/PSB thing about 4 times already, which mean an average of every 2 weeks. I think it’s enough to remember yet not being too persistent. Will ask her again today. She knows the wall is thin. The first day, she and her bf put the tv on. But since then…. maybe they think I sleep soundly and don’t hear anything. Or the passion was too much to try and switch tv/radio on :D I know the drill now…. When she and her bf gets back home, they’ll have showers then … ;) When I know the bf’s here I always have my earphones with me… listening to mp3 player, radio, or computer. That way I cannot hear anything. But sometimes I need to go to the toilet, that’s where it’s embarassing for me if they’ve not finished yet. ![]()

did you try talking to her about what you don’t like? I’ve heard many people complain about their flatmates and I had a roommate I couldn’t get along with because of too much difference(mostly habits and culture) between us so I can understand what you feel like. It will be troublesome to move but for the sake of a better living environment and a flatmate you can get along with….. maybe you really should move..
Btw, you should tell her that the walls are thin and that you can hear eveything at night. :P I suppose that she didn’t realize it.
