2009 almost over
So another year comes to an end. And along with it fresh hassles regarding visa renewals. Since 2010 will be Expo year for Shanghai, the authority will be more strict and annoying than ever, probably worse than Beijing at its pre-Olympics period.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and getting geared for the New Year. [...]

Taxi fare on the rise
As from today, the taxi fares in Shanghai have risen up. The initial fare has gone up from 11 kuai to 12 kuai. Similarly, every additional km will see the fare go up by 2.4 kuai instead of the 2.1 kuai we used to have. It’s going to be quite expensive for me since when [...]

Sad time
Didn’t post anything these days because not much happening. It’s rainy season here, meaning it often rains. Got caught in a couple of them recently. The highly expected eclipse was a dud in Shanghai because it was raining that morning. And I got soaked right to the bones on my way to the office [...]

Blocked for now
Just to let you know that my blog cannot be accessed freely in China right now. As part of the crackdown that’s been going on the last couple of days or so, my boring blog got filtered out, probably due to the word ‘blog’ in my html address. I can still access the main site, [...]

Need to reduce time of play
I’ve been somewhat of a game addict for a long time, but don’t usually play online games. It all changed after gettting curious from all the messages I could see from a cousin’s Facebook notifications. I decided to give it a try, and unfortunately I am hooked!!!
The game’s Mafia Wars, and you start by being [...]

1 yr and Bye
I have been hesitating during the last week whether to make that post public or keep it private. It seems like one of those posts that would come and bite me back later. I guess I could move it back to private category or password protect it.
After almost one year, I suddenly find myself back [...]

Raining
It’s been raining for too many days, and the weather forecast is yet more rain to come. After an unusually dry spell during the end/beginning of the year, rain is back in force in Shanghai. Clothes hanged outside on the balcony stay damp, shoes will probably start to ‘rot’, need to switch the oil heater [...]

Rainy Valentine 09?
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Weather forecast for the weekend in Shanghai is rain on both days. I was planning to go downtown and take a couple of pictures, but now I don’t feel any interest in it. Rainy days mean lack of empty taxis, umrellas poking you, overcrowded metro ….
Ai… I still don’t know where [...]

Hard beginning of the year
Been a hard start to the year for me. My maternal grandmother died during the Chinese spring festival period, and my grand-auntie in Beijing passed away a short while ago. Following Chinese customs, didn’t go out to have dinner and party (not that I am the party kind of person)
I’m not usually sensitive enough to [...]
